Project Abstract

Some retail stores rely heavily on telephone orders as a major portion of their business. This is truer of the retail floral business than many other horticultural enterprises. The retail florist may generate nearly one-third of his/her business in this manner. Each member of the sales staff must be able to receive these calls in a highly professional manner. The telephone salesperson must rely on words to describe the flowers and make presentation. For this reason, the telephone salesperson must be knowledgeable about flowers, prices, and services offered by the shop.

The person selling flowers by telephone must have a telephone voice which is easily understood and sounds friendly. The customer cannot see his/her smile, they have to hear it.

My project is to create a web-based education tool will provide the basics of good Sales techniques for selling flowers by telephone. Besides teaching the students good Sales techniques, it is the objective of this course to teach the students how to correctly fill the Sales form.

My client for this project is Dr. Frank Flanders in the Georgia Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and communication in the college of Agriculture and Environmental sciences.Dr. Flanders is involved in creating curriculum and coordinates lesson plans for agriculture teachers in the state.
