Accomplishments

Three years of pioneering efforts in educational cooperation


Since its inception in December 2002, the Partnershiphas successfully gained the active support & involvement of more then 35 administrative and academic units from UGA and Tunisia. Funded by US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), this Partnershiphas helped gain a mutual deeper understanding of higher education system in UGA & Tunisia.

The major accomplishments of this Partnershipover the last three years has been the successful execution of Training programs and exchange visits. Some of the key achievements over the last three years are highlighted as follows:

  • Conducted National level e-learning workshops in 2004 & 2005
  • Trained more then 100 Tunisian faculty in e-learning technology and pedagogy
  • The Training encompassed technical, pedagogical, and administrative aspect of e-learning
  • The Faculty trained in the workshops are now acting as trainers within their universities
  • The courses developed by the Tunisian faculty are now available online; more then 1200 students are enrolled in these courses
  • Successfully Sensitize the Tunisian higher education leaders to the resources needed to implement distance learning at a large scale
  • Successfully brought together Diplomacy & leaders of higher education in UGA & Tunisia
  • Increased the opportunity for international and regional co-operation
